Eleni hurried down the stairs and pulled open the door, oblivious to the cold air pouring into the showroom.
Her heart caught in her throat. Joe really was her Prince Charming. He looked handsome in the red doublet, tight white trousers, and knee-high black leather boots. He wore a sword at his waist. He walked toward the door.
“You look magnificent.”
Eleni threw herself into his arms. Tears ran down her cheeks. “I’ve missed you so much.”
Without a word, he took her mouth and kissed her with a hunger and need that matched hers. Slowly, he pulled his lips away from hers.
“If we keep this up, we won’t make the ball, and it won’t be because of my flight. I want to make love to you this minute, but I know how important this is for your sister. Where’s your wrap? Anticipation will make everything sweeter later.” He kissed her again.
She’d gladly have bypassed the ball to be in his bed, but he was right. They couldn’t disappoint Georgia. If he could stand the wait, then so could she.
She grabbed her velvet cape off the chair, and he put it over her shoulders, his lips kissing the nape of her neck.
“You look well and truly kissed, Snow White.”
She laughed, went to the mirror and fixed her make-up.
“Better?”
“I liked the other look, but… Let’s go, the sooner the dance and the wedding are over, the sooner I can feel your naked body beneath mine. I’ve missed you, darling. Remind me never to leave you again.”
“I’ll hold you to that,” she said softly.
He opened the door for her, and they went out into the crisp December night. The door lock behind them.
