Through the Eyes of Children: There’s Magic in the Air.

ready for battleGood morning. It’s been a while since I shared a personal blog with you, but I thought today would be a perfect time to talk about the simple things in life that bring immeasurable joy to children. This weekend was a busy one for us. Our middle son came home for a visit, and we took the grandkids on not one, but two major outings. On Saturday we went to Upper Canada Village for the Medieval Times Festival and on Sunday, we took them to the Lion’s Club Carnival and then out to supper to celebrate someone’s upcoming sixth birthday.

Medieval Times celebrates the past, specifically showing how people enjoyed themselves way back then. The guy walking around isn’t hawking cotton candy, but giant dill pickles–We all had one of those. The kids get to try their luck at games of skill:With a rope ladder, the crossbow, the battering ram, a mini catapult, and of course leaping frogs!

And what would a Medieval Fair be like without buskers? Knights in armor on horses preparing to joust, and a morality play, complete with a colorful dragon tamed at the end by the fair maid?

And when it was time for a break, the children enjoyed painting.  It was a marvelous day. The next day, we went to the carnival. Rides, rides, rides on all day unlimited rides bracelets. IMG_0027IMG_0050

And who doesn’t remember the joy of the merry-go-round?  Finished the day with an early birthday dessert .

There is nothing better than enjoying family fun time together–no electronics–just fresh air and fun. I love seeing the joy on their faces, the wonder in their eyes, and in my own way, I relive a little of the magic of my own youth.

I wish you all fun, magic, and wonder this summer!

Finally retired after more than 30 years as a teacher! Now, I get to spend my time gardening, enjoying my grandchildren, and writing. I finally completed the number one item in my bucket list and Crimson Romance published my first novel, Fire Angel, in April 2013. Since then I have published 24 manuscripts to date and don't plan to quit writing for a long time yet.
